Loki has his Nightly Routine with Mommy.
It started out as daily toothbrushing with Mommy’s determination to prioritize Loki’s dental care early.
Well, then, grooming was added. AND… she snuck in desensitizing to the nail trim tools.
Over 9 minutes long for one big treat called NightCap.
We present you, Loki’s Nightly Routine, starring Loki the Brave & Patient, followed by information on items featured in the video that Loki likes! 💚
1. Toothbrushing
Toothbrushing is one of the most important parts of the nightly routine. Does Loki like it? Well… It’s more about spending time with Mommy, with some licking.
Nonetheless, it’s now part of his routine to the point that he independently walks into the bathroom at the word, “Toothbrushing” and sits and waits.Â
Here are some essential things for Loki’s toothbrushing that helps him like the time!

2. Grooming and Desensitization
Loki gets wiped with gentle oatmeal-based wipes after each walk outside, and his hair gets checked. This nightly routine part adds brushing and combing his hair. This routine helps his hair to stay untangled and smooth.
Loki also used to get his nails clipped at home by Mommy. However, after a few incidents of clipping the nails too close to the quicks, followed by paw injuries, Loki stopped wanting to get his paw touched with nail-clipping tools. So, Mommy decided to sneak in Desensitization, basically being gradually touched by tools to decrease his sensitivity to the tools.
Yes… Loki’s Mommy uses some big words at times. 🤯 It may be the nature of her job. Loki will tell you more later about it in Loki’s Thoughts. 😉

Wipes & Towels
Oatmeal-Based Wipes are what Loki and Mommy prefer to use! Mommy is a big fan of Big n’ Thick Oatmeal Wipes by Petkin. Only thing is Loki’s paws and hair can get too wet from it. So, the small washcloth is always prepared with it.
Brushes and Combs
If you finished watching the video, you probably thought… Sooo many brushes and combs for Loki… the dog that really doesn’t have whole a lot of hair…
Well… that’s the thing. Loki’s hair is comprised of different types. Some what long hair… wired… Some parts are thick and some parts thin. So Mommy found that Loki likes different brushes and combs for different areas.
1. Self-Cleaning De-tangler (aka slicker brush). This brush detangles any knots that Loki may have. Mommy learned that using this brush to detangle Loki’s knotted hair daily is one of the safest and best ways to prevent a serious matted hair situation. It’s a bit prickly. So, Loki asked that you do it gently for your dogs, selectively targeting the end of hair, not deep into the roots.
Mommy wanted to get a detangler that is more comfortable for Loki that can touch his skin. She was also looking for a soft brush for very short hair areas. So she found the 2-in-1 brush!
3. Comb from the Grooming kit
Mommy bought a grooming kit very early on when Loki’s hair around his eyes started to impact his sight and dry tear stains (aka. Eye booger). So that Loki’s Daddy, other hooman isn’t using all kinds of scissors to cut his hair close to the eyes. The kit came with a multi-sized-tooth comb. Mommy uses it to line Loki’s hair.
Oh! Loki wants to tell you that Mommy cuts his hair, too! So, of course, there will be another post about it later!
Nail-Clipping tools
Loki thinks that this should be a topic for another time! But basically, he has 2 different types of nail-clippers and a filer for the desensitization routine.
Of course, Mommy got him other tools for nail care. It makes sense that Loki is a little worried that Mommy will go on and on about things. 🤣

3. NightCap!
Loki not only likes but also loves his NightCap! He would look for the opportunities to get an extra NightCap. He endures all Mommy’s demands for this!
