When Loki joined Mommy and Daddy, he was just 1 year and 20 days old! Loki has been following Mommy from the first day, and tried so hard to learn and understand what Mommy was saying. Mommy and Daddy started to train Loki with some basic commands. As this training was the first of many new things to learn, Loki has a whole lot of thoughts about this! ð
“Hey, Loki, what did you think about your first training?”
First training…Hmmm…ð§
Well.. Speaking of first… I got to talk about how I met Mommy and Daddy to get this first training story.Â
I met Mommy and Daddy at this event with many hoomans and dogs. My foster mommy told me we are going somewhere, and oh man, I was excited! I got out of my foster Mommy’s car, and I ran to a store. The store looked sooo busy with sooo many hoomans and dogs.
But then!!! There was this one hooman running out of the store opening the door, and said, “Hi Ayce, you are here!!!” Oh, by the way, my name before I met Mommy and Daddy was Ayce.
Anyway! This hooman…Yes, you can guess who that was. She’s my Mommy!
I don’t know if it was because she was running towards me and I was running towards the store at the same time… Mommy and I hugged instantly! We were in the store together for a bit, and I saw another hooman with Mommy. Yes, that is Daddy. Mommy looked like she was begging for something, and kept looking back at me. Then! Mommy talked to my foster Mommy, and Mommy got this folder from her. I was smelling a lot of dogs. Sooo…. I got a little distracted, and all of a sudden, Daddy picked me up, and we took a picture! All three of us. Then Mommy got my leash, so I followed her around the store. Then we went to a car, but Mommy wasn’t getting in! She kissed Daddy and said, “I will see you at home.” So! I jumped up from the backseat so I could get a kiss, first of many kisses from Mommy.
That is sooo cute… So, your first training?
Ah! I am getting to it! ð
Mommy worked late afternoons to evenings. So, during the daytime, I got to spend all my time with Mommy. Well… At least for the first 6 months. Mommy took me out to walk and play every two hours. She did everything!! You wouldn’t believe that she never had a dog in her life! After I recovered from this surgery called neuter… So, I think it was about 17 days after I met Mommy and Daddy that Mommy started doing these fun things where she gave me tiny treats! They are tiny but mighty delicious. ðĪŠ
The very first word I learned was “Sit!” Take a look at how I did it with Mommy!
Did you see??? I did it!!! ð
The treat was delicious, of course, but the biggest excitement was seeing Mommy soooo proud of me.
For a while, she said “Sit!” with the treat in front of me, and over my head. I was just busy looking at where in the world this treat was going, and it looked like it’s disappearing over my head. While I am tracking the treat with my head tilted backward, I naturally sat down. As soon as I sat down, Mommy got so excited and gave me the treat with a lot of love. Eventually, she would say, “Sit!” and I got the treat after I sat down, still with a lot of love.
By the way, while Mommy is all about buying things for me, the only thing Mommy needed for this training was this super delicious treat!
I now sit when Mommy or Daddy tells me to sit, with or without treats. And if I want something, I sit because I think Mommy gets really happy when I sit and knows what I want! ð
